Blue Jays shut out Padres, who drop fourth straight - San Diego Union-Tribune
How big is a three-run deficit for the Padres presently?
Three is the total number of runs they have scored in their past four games. Those have all been losses, equaling the longest losing streak of the season for a team that fell to eight games above .500 (27-19) for the first time since they were 19-11 on April 30.
This is just the 16th time in franchise history that a Padres team has scored no more than one run in four straight games. The longest such streak was five games, done twice in 2011 and once in 1969.

Arraez hits in front of two of the best power hitters in the lineup. And while they’ve been out of sorts the past four games, they won’t be forever. When Arraez is leading off an inning in front of those two the goal needs to be maximizing the chances of getting on base. Victor Rodriguez understands this, and he’s advised Arraez on this in the past. It may be time for a reminder.
Shildt Says: Discussing Dylan Cease starting Tuesday in Toronto and Darvish’s progress - FriarWire
“Darvish is doing well,” said Shildt. “He’s recovering, playing catch. We’re discussing what the next steps are and we’re evaluating day-by-day. There’s not a great deal of a timeline. We’re taking it literally in a big view. He’ll get back to it and we’ll see where he ends up, whether he gets back to us next or what the next steps are. There’s a chance he’ll join us in Atlanta.”
