San Diego Padres
Giants turn tables on Padres in comeback victory - San Diego Union-Tribune
A Giants team that had not scored more than four runs in a game since mid-May scored six of them between the fifth and seventh innings to beat the Padres 6-5.
“No lack of drama, another one-run game,” Padres manager Mike Shildt said. “A 5-0 lead, and wasn’t able to bring it home.”
Jason Adam took the loss after letting the two runners he inherited from Nick Pivetta with no outs in the seventh score and also allowing his own runner to score.
Bogaerts' left shoulder aching, forces him from game - Padres.com
In the sixth inning, Bogaerts was replaced on defense by Jose Iglesias -- and he would later acknowledge that he’s been dealing with discomfort in that shoulder for “a couple days,” though he couldn’t pinpoint the cause. Last season, Bogaerts fractured that very shoulder while diving for a ground ball and missed two months. He said the soreness felt similar to the soreness he dealt with while rehabbing that injury.
Fernando Tatis Jr. working to get out of monthlong funk - San Diego Union-Tribune
Teammates. Coaches. Members of the front office. Everyone knows (and feels) when Tatis is not doing well.
From time to time, when it reaches a certain point, like recently, those around him will take turns encouraging him. They will also remind him how important he is to the team — not just what he does in the batter’s box or right field, but the energy he brings.
To that end, Tatis works to pull himself from his misery to celebrate big moments in games. He has, for instance, emerged from the dugout to participate in his traditional celebration with Manny Machado after every one of Machado’s home runs the past month.
