The previous record temperature for the start of the grass court Grand Slam event was set in 2001 when 29.3C was reached.

Monday's expected blast of heat could even surpass the tournament record of 35.7 degrees in 2015 when on-court temperatures were significantly higher than that.

Wimbledon's heat rule will likely come into force, allowing a 10-minute break in play when the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is at or above 30.1 degrees Celsius.

Wimbledon begins June 30 in London, and the draws for the men’s and women’s singles are intriguing, while also throwing up some blockbuster first-round matches.

Wimbledon is set to get underway on Monday, June 30th, with Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina widely considered to be the two favourites to take the crown.

Sabalenka, currently world No. 1, has shown strong form this year, including a run to the French Open final. Rybakina, a former Wimbledon champion (2022), consistently excels on grass and has had solid results in the recent warm-up tournaments.

Other strong contenders like Coco Gauff, fresh off her French Open title, are also expected to make deep runs.
