Padres acquire infielder Will Wagner from the Blue Jays
The Padres keep making moves, this one adds to the big league team's bench.

In the middle of the chaos leading up to the MLB trade deadline, the San Diego Padres announced a deal themselves.
We have acquired infielder Will Wagner from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for catcher Brandon Valenzuela.

Before you ask, yes. Will Wagner is the son of Hall of Fame closer Billy Wagner.
Will is an infielder, in his second season playing for the Toronto Blue Jays, and has split time playing 1B, 2B and 3B.
His 123 OPS+ in his rookie season has dipped down to just 79 this season, limiting the amount of time he has spent in the Toronto lineup.
This addition feels a bit redundant with Jose Iglesias and Tyler Wade on the roster, but perhaps it is related to the talks going on between the Astros and Padres over Dylan Cease.
Wagner adds depth to a Padres bench that is a bit unsettled at this exact moment.
Brandon Valenzuela is currently playing for the AA San Antonio Missions and was ranked as the #26 Padres prospect according to MLB.com.
