Mets hit 4 home runs off Michael King, rout Padres in series opener - San Diego Union-Tribune
King getting hit hard and often on Tuesday was at least as troubling for the Padres as anything else about an 8-3 loss to the Mets.
It was arguably the greatest concern to come out of the night.
That is because the Padres are virtually certain to make the playoffs. But what they do when they get there could be largely up to King.
King still working out the kinks with playoff decisions looming - MLB.com
In his second start back from the injured list, King was roughed up by the Mets to the tune of eight runs over three-plus innings. He allowed a five spot in the first and four home runs in San Diego’s 8-3 loss on Tuesday night at Citi Field.
“Terrible fastball command,” King said. “All around terrible. Bad pitch selections. Bad locations. Got to be a lot better.”
Shohei Ohtani becomes sixth MLB player to post back-to-back 50-HR seasons, after throwing 5 no-hit innings - Yahoo Sports
Ohtani left the mound with the Dodgers up 4-0, but a Justin Wrobleski meltdown in the sixth inning quickly gave the Phillies the lead. The Dodgers tied the game in the eighth inning, but one more meltdown from Blake Treinen gave the Phillies a 9-6 win and continued a rough stretch for the Dodgers bullpen.
Per Josh Dubow of the Associated Press, the Dodgers became the first team since 1906 to get five no-hit innings from a starting pitcher then have its bullpen allow at least nine runs.
