Aaron Judge did his part, but the New York Yankees, once again, failed to win the World Series - Yahoo Sports
That ultimate prize, a World Series championship, continues to elude and define Judge. Even though he ended all doubts about his postseason fortitude with that unforgettable swing in Game 3, he knows the expectations that come with wearing the pinstripes. He is already, far and away, the greatest Yankee of all time without a ring.

He did his best Wednesday, delivering a commendable performance that also served to reinforce baseball’s limitations in legacy creation. This sport, more than any other, restricts the myth of the lone hero. It’s in the game’s DNA, both frustrating and beautiful. One player can dominate, inspire, ignite, but he cannot do it all alone. Every at-bat is a solitary experience, but the end result is a collaboration.

Kershaw roughed up in relief as Dodgers drop Game 3 of NLDS - ESPN
Kershaw, the future Hall of Fame left-hander who will retire at season's end, was making his first postseason relief appearance since the decisive Game 5 of the 2019 NLDS, when he came back out for a second inning and surrendered back-to-back, score-tying home runs to Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto. His latest relief outing could have finished in a flourish, after recording the final out in a scoreless top of the seventh. Instead, it ended in despair.

Cubs erupt in historic 1st inning, then hold off Crew to extend NLDS - MLB.com
For the second time in three games in this National League Division Series against the Brewers, Busch led off with a home run. The opening frame has been where Chicago’s offense has done its heavy lifting, but this time it stuck. Busch’s shot ignited a four-run outburst that Jameson Taillon and five Cubs relievers rode to a 4-3 victory, keeping the North Siders’ season alive.

Tigers keep season alive, force Game 5 of ALDS vs. Mariners - ESPN
For weeks, the Tigers have teetered on the edge of seeing their once promising season come to an abrupt stop. With an offensive breakout occurring just in time Wednesday, Detroit now finds itself in the position it hoped to be all along.

Javier Báez homered, stole a base and drove in four runs, leading a midgame offensive surge as the Tigers beat the Seattle Mariners 9-3 in Game 4 and evened the American League Division Series at 2-2.
