Darren Smith and John Gennaro recap the sports weekend that was in San Diego, starting with San Diego FC winning their first ever playoff game in front of the home fans at Snapdragon Stadium . The guys talk about Hirving "Chucky" Lozano's absence from the team before breaking down what went right in Game 1 and what the team might be looking to change before Game 2 on Saturday in Portland.
The guys then move on to San Diego State, who was ready for their biggest football challenge of the season so far but ended up with a dud in The Battle for the Oil Can up in Fresno. The Fresno State Bulldogs made a QB change before the game even began and were shutout as a result by the Aztecs offense. While SDSU handled their business, we're still unsure how good of a team they are because their schedule has been so weak.
Finally, checking in on the Padres, the team is still yet to announce what (if anything) the future holds for A.J. Preller in San Diego. We haven't heard about an extension or about him possibly being released from his contracts, but it does sound like maybe the Colorado Rockies are keeping an eye on the situation.
Also, how can the Padres be attempting to woo potential managers here when nobody knows who is running baseball operations beyond 2026?
