Let's burn some calories on Black Friday
If you're free tomorrow, we'd like to ride bikes together.
Many years ago, I reached out to the guys at Emo Brown and asked how I could become a part of their weekly bike ride that I kept seeing them post about on Instagram.
"Just show up" was the response. They told me when and where they congregated before going for a group ride together every Sunday morning, a version of which still continues on to this day. So, an open-invite policy.
I ended up riding with them just about every Sunday for the better part of a year or two before moving up to Carlsbad. I made life-long friends in the process, along with a ton of fantastic memories. I've been back since, but not as often as I'd like.
As such, I have been trying to build a similar weekly bike ride as a part of Section 1904. Not wanting to disturb what the Emo Brown guys are doing, and not wanting to force myself to travel too far, I've decided to keep these rides to north county (for now).
To this point, we've only done a couple of them, and they've been pretty small as I've mostly just done the planning and communicating through the Section 1904 Discord. I also haven't settled on a regular starting point (yet).
But today I am going public, which means I will have to make it even more of a priority to ride every week. It also means I get to tell you about our ride tomorrow, on Black Friday. Hopefully, you're free and looking to burn off calories from today.

When: Friday, November 28th. Leaving at 11:00am PT
Start/End point: Buena Creek Station Parking, 2103S S Santa Fe Ave, San Marcos, CA 92069
Turning around at: Burgeon at The Oasis - Escondido, 649 Rock Springs Rd Suite B, Escondido, CA 92025
This one is going to be easy. About 17 miles total, probably less than 90 minutes of actual riding time, and I specifically picked a pretty flat are of town.
We'll probably work up a little sweat and might have to deal with a little bit of traffic here and there, but we'll be riding the Inland Rail Trail (which has an entry/exit point right next to both of the above locations) the entire time and there's no massive hills that would make it hard for entry level cyclists to join us on whatever bike they have lying around.
I've been assured that Burgeon at The Oasis will be ready to serve beer to anyone who may want one or two before we head back to where we started.
If you are interested in coming along, well...
Just show up.
