Someone from our community is doing something great for a cause that's near and dear to my heart.

Let's raise money for Rady Children's Hospital

To say that I love Rady Children's Hospital would be an understatement. Instead, there are times when I wonder if my one-and-only child would still be alive without the hard work of the nurses and doctors that work magic inside that building.

I know many people that have similar stories of gratitude, reasons why Rady Children's Hospital will always be a special and magical place for them. You probably do, too.

I can look back at the numerous times I've taken my daughter there to deal with a heart condition (not to mention taking her there to get her first COVID vaccine shots), but it's not the scary memories that come back first. Instead, it's the time that we walked around the grounds finding every frog sculpture. Or the little boat for kids to play with, positioned just outside the cardiology center. Or the beautiful little "healing garden" behind the hospital, where I tried really hard not to cry over some bad news while my daughter jumped up on a makeshift stage and pretended she was a rock star.

Suffice to say, we are lucky that the children of San Diego have such an incredible place to go when the worst happens. Not just because of their expertise in care, but because how much thought has been put into child-sizing medical care and making the experience one that is a lot less scary than it otherwise would be.

That's why, when Section 1904 subscriber Mason reached out to me and told me about a video game-a-thon that he and his friends are a part of to raise money for Rady's Children Hospital, I asked if we could record a quick podcast where he told me all about it.

Here is that podcast. I hope you can find 18 minutes in your day to listen to it, because I think it's important.
